Local Elections for Woodlands Village associations and RDRC

An early election for village associations and RDRC committees is being conducted at the Woodlands Township Service (previously the WCA Association) building this week, across from the Methodist church on Lake Woodlands Drive, just east of Lake Woodlands. The village associations represent your concerns to the Township and arrange for social activities in your neighborhoods. You have a resident representative for your neighborhood. As you are aware, each village is comprised of a number neighborhoods. The Township is comprised of a few villages. It is similar in concept to county, state and federal representation. This representation is intended to give grass root leverage into the Township for our community. Each village sends a representative to the Township to voice concerns. The village also sends a representative to special purpose committees - the parks and recreation advisory committee and the police and safety advisory committee.

Concurrently on the same ballot, you will elect your RDRC representatives for your village. These residents of your village meet at a minimum of once per month to decide what actions to take on submitted change requests to a property, if the request seeks a solution that is not in compliance with the deed restrictions. It also considers resident complaints about covenant violations, in addition to overseeing due process for complainers as well as accused violators in this capacity.

The Woodlands community needs your help in determining who is to serve on the village associations and RDRC committees on your behalf. Please vote tomorrow (early voting) or Saturday (election day) and help make a difference to your community. You do not need to be registered with the county as a voter to participate. You only need to live here. Bring proof that you live in The Woodlands and vote in your appropriate village election.

The Township election will be held in May. This is not the Township election nor is it associated with the  primary elections of March 2nd.
